Building Envelope Solutions

A single-source partner across the full commercial building envelope.

Introduction

Building Envelope Solutions

The building envelope is the external skin of a building — everything that separates the inside from the outside. For commercial buildings that means the glazing, curtain walling, windows, doors, louvres, spandrel panels and roof glazing that together form the facade and roof envelope.

BEWS is a single-source partner across that envelope. Rather than buying each system from a different supplier, project teams can specify curtain walling, windows, doors, louvres, spandrel panels, rooflights and the powder coating that finishes them from one accountable supplier — designed to work together.

What It Is

A building envelope is the physical separator between the interior and exterior of a building. In commercial construction it typically combines aluminium curtain walling, windows, entrance doors, louvre systems, spandrel panels and roof glazing — each performing a structural, thermal, fire or weatherproofing role within the facade.

Because these systems meet at the facade, their performance is interdependent. A curtain walling system's thermal performance depends on the glazing and spandrel build-up behind it; a louvre's ventilation capacity depends on the plenum design; a door's security depends on the framing it sits in. Specifying them together — from one supplier — is how the envelope performs as a system rather than a collection of parts.

Why It Matters

The envelope determines a building's thermal performance, weather tightness, fire strategy, security and appearance. Get it right and the building is efficient, durable and compliant; get the interfaces wrong and the building leaks, underperforms and costs more to operate.

It is also where most of the compliance risk sits. Document L thermal targets, PAS 24 security and CWCT facade testing all fall on the envelope. A single-source envelope partner reduces that risk by taking ownership of the interfaces between systems.

How BEWS Contributes

BEWS contributes across the envelope by designing, fabricating and supplying the systems that form it — and by finishing them in-house with our own powder coating line. We work with architects, main contractors, developers and procurement teams from specification through to delivery.

Our value is in the interfaces. Because we supply curtain walling, windows, doors, louvres, spandrel panels and roof glazing from one source, the connections between systems are our responsibility — not a coordination risk split across multiple suppliers.

Working Together

Curtain walling forms the facade frame; windows and entrance doors integrate within it; spandrel panels mask the structure between vision zones; louvres handle ventilation and plant; roof glazing brings daylight through the roof; and powder coating finishes every aluminium component in a consistent colour.

Specifying these systems together means the thermal breaks, glazing rebates, gaskets and finishes are coordinated. A window specified in isolation may not suit the curtain walling rebate; a spandrel panel specified in isolation may not match the fire strategy. From one supplier, they are specified to fit.
